W2 and Humdrum Hong Kong join forces for our third party in a row to feature outstanding Berlin DJs and performers: First is recent Kompakt signee Dave DK, who has enjoyed longtime DJ residencies at Berlin’s legendary clubs like Tresor and Panorama Bar, as well as Glitterbug, a true electronic artist creating melodic, cinematic live techno with a pile of analogue synthesizers alongside his VJ Ronni Shendar for a complete audio-visual experience! Expect experimental, melodic techno and deep house, rounded out with support from three of Hong Kong’s most “outside-the-box” DJs: Wendy Wenn, Ocean Lam, and Casey Anderson.
DJ & producer Dave DK has been making waves in the world’s electronic music capital for more than a decade. First trying his hand at DJing in 1995 at the tender age of 17, by 1999 the Berliner had earned residency at the Tresor/Globus Club, and later at the legendary Panorama Bar. He takes an open-minded approach to DJing and production, resenting musical limits and avoiding being stuck in one style. “I have a passion for the wide range between house and techno as well as pop music and dancefloor stuff of the early 90′s“, says Dave. With 15 years of producing all kinds of house and techno tracks, his diverse releases have found homes on labels like Mood Music, Television Records, Cadeaux, Playhouse, and most recently, Kompakt. Though he’s elegantly juggling a variety of electronic music to create his own style, his tracks often combine tragic melodies with kickin’ grooves that transform your body into a twisting stampede of electricity, with trademark swing and funk.
Glitterbug is a composer, producer, DJ, artist and curator, standing tall in all musical genres he puts his fingers on. Be it deep techno, remixing, ambient works, writing music for films or audio-visual installations, his musical language always resonates with a score-like, visual approach. Though he considers himself a bit of an outsider to the club world, his musical development can be traced back to the late ‘80s illegal acid parties and Cologne’s experimental techno scene of the 90s, as well as a deep love for House, the sound of early Chicago and the late Detroit. His wide range of sounds and flexible improvisation means he is at home whether performing in a gallery or during his recent club show in Tel Aviv opening for Frankie Knuckles. Glitterbug is always found performing next to his longtime VJ, Ronni Shendar, as they silently communicate and each play off the others’ sounds or images. Ronni Shendar is an Israeli visual artist whose works have been presented in exhibitions and festivals internationally (among them the Festival de Cannes and Jewish Museum Frankfurt) and who recently toured with Gold Panda. Together they create very special music somewhere in the epicenter of club music, film soundtracks and live improvisation.

The next installment of Humdrum Hong Kong‘s free late-night party of cutting edge deep house and techno at Bassment features Berlin‘s Paulo, co-founder of Airdrop Records and A&R Manager of the legendary Tresor-Berlin label.
In the miraculous world of Airdrop Records co-founder Paulo, where DJing, restless label work and partying all morph into one, everything is much more than what it seems. Only here, bad road accidents result in amazing music output and other even more wondrous creations that make this planet a better place to live on.
Growing up in France, Paulo was way too young to get into clubs when he was starting to feel the electronic pulses of a restless generation ready to change the course of things. After having had the pleasure to select and compile jazz and blues records with his late father, he got infected with the electronic virus a couple years later when his older brother returned from the States with anything from early Tribal America records to Gemini’s 1997 “In Neutral” EP.
Crossing the ocean at the age of 18, he bumped into the crazy ass duo Soul Clap and his friend Henry within the first weeks of being there. Before anybody knew what was going on, they were all throwing parties together every Tuesday which were aptly named Airdrop as they were dropping serious electronic sounds onto some clueless students, lifting them into higher spheres of (un-)consciousness.
But while Paulo’s head floats in the air and his body rotates behind the turntables, his feet are steadily rooted in reality, enabling his expert musical knowledge to unfold beyond the short-lived nocturnal moments. His experience as a label-head got some prestigious labels to employ him, getting Paulo to manage the logistics of the !K7 Label Group and currently give a new artistic direction to Tresor Records, two of Berlin’s seminal labels.

Deep house and techno all night from DJs Ocean Lam, Casey Anderson, and special guest Devlar.
After an exciting schedule that included our first Humdrum showcase abroad, a headlining DJ slot at Hong Kong’s festival of the year, and supporting resident DJs of world class clubs [from Panorama Bar to Womb Tokyo] during their stops in Hong Kong, Ocean and Casey are happy to go back to the bass-ics at our home, Bassment! Even more, we’re thrilled to introduce HK to our favorite Macau DJ, Devlar.
Originally from the USA, Devlar (Flipside) is a maestro of the Macanese underground techno scene, which he has called home for 10 years. Inspired by sounds in Sao Paulo and Berlin, his sophisticated tech house and ear for the interesting have made him a go-to support DJ when the likes of Meat Katie, Layo & Bushwacka or 2000 & One make the rounds at the casinos. While HongKongers may recognize him from the Secret Circus events, Devlar’s also toured to far out destinations like Guatemala and Brazil, and his gig history completely reflects the surreal glitz and seedy underground of Macau: from the Playboy Club and House of Dancing Water to Chiang Mai’s “THC Club“… this is gonna be one of those sultry, sinful ones!Devlar is joined by Humdrum Hong Kong residents Casey Anderson and Ocean Lam. Expect deep house and techno, a much-loved visual show, a relaxing outdoor terrace and unpretentious music lovers dancing til tomorrow.

Satoshi Fumi is one of the new leaders of the Tokyo electronic underground with his unique style of self-described “deep tech house“.His rich imagination drive his exciting DJ appearances across the globe as well as his residency at the city’s top mega-club, WOMB. His prolific productions across many styles of house and techno have been acclaimed by Laurent Garnier, Ken Ishii, Nic Fanciulli and Sasse.
Brought up on house music from Detroit, Chicago and New York during the 1990s, he shaped his own sound based on the classics. He’s since collaborated with artists like Todd Terry, Kaito/Hiroshi Watanabe, and Funk D’Void, and released on quality labels like Mood Music, Bedrock, Yoshitoshi, Klik Records, Plastic City, as well as his own labels Sequent:Recordings and Outerspace (run with Osamu M).

Humdrum Hong Kong presents Italian dancefloor veteran I-Robots, a truly eclectic DJ blurring the distinctions between techno of the future and Italo disco of the past. I-Robots’ productions for labels like Ornaments Music and Boysnoize Records span deep house to techy acid, while his huge collection of 30,000 vinyl records has earned him the title of “historian” by DJs like Chicago house master Chez Damier.
As head of the label Opilec Music, I-Robots’ hand-picked compilations and remixes provide insight into his unique tastes. From electronic disco godfather Giorgio Moroder to Detroit techno pioneers like Juan Atkins and Richie Hawtin to catchy hitmakers like Todd Terje, I-Robots promises to immerse you in his own world of timeless, exciting and unpredictable electronic music!
